Once upon a time in 1997 Carter Smith photographed beautiful Shalom Harlow for a story published in the October issue of British Vogue. The editorial was indeed so special that it inspired photographer Chris Craymer and fashion director Charlotte-Anne Fidler who obviously hit the inspiration wall and decided to use the original for their own creation published in the November issue of Glamour UK. Well, as Rose Bertin, the French milliner and dress maker to Marie Antoinette, said once, “there is nothing new except what is forgotten”. And how embarrassing it must be when the iconic image loved by many for years just pops up out of nowhere…
