It’s this time of the year again to let your fingers touch the keyboard, get on-line and find your dream bag. Monnier Frères, one of my favourite shopping destination, is hosting another tempting sale offering up to 50% off some of the most desirable and fabulous handbags you could think of (including brands that aren’t available anywhere else). So why not treat yourself? I know it’s not Christmas or birthday (though there is always a birthday girl out there), but dreams don’t necessarily need a calendar to come true.

Le parfum by Carven | My new must have

carven-le-parfum-campaign-1

“I wanted to play with the Carven values in a feminine mode: timeless elegance that also seems absolutely effortless. I wanted a fragrance that would resemble a huge bouquet of freshly cut flowers, with temperament”.

Francis Kurkdjian, perfumer, creator of Le Parfum

I don’t know what was the first thing I liked about this perfume launched by Carven on 5 May. Le Parfum had so many elements with my name written all over and was very difficult to resist.

The unfussy name. The elegant label. The clean, simple and classic design of the bottle combining frosted glass, soft curves and a stopper lid that slides in with a delicate, very intimate whisper… The rainbow scent made of happiness-filled mandarin blossoms, intoxicating dreamy jasmine, summery hyacinth, sensual ylang-ylang and a warm touch of sandalwood… The couture charm and youthfulness of Carven it reflects.

I am excited. I want to feel this delicious veil around me.

Find it at Harrods – then buy, keep and enjoy this precious little gift.

P.S. And may I just add that I simply ADORE Brynja Jónbjarnardóttir, the model who became the face of the new fragrance…

Trends 2013: spring crops

natalia-vodianova-vogue-us-may-2011-bruce-weber-editorial-pink-cropped-trousers

This spring the skirts are getting longer and longer while the trousers seem to be doing exactly the opposite. The exposed ankle was seen on many runways this season making cropped trousers the Trend hero of Spring/Summer 2013.

They may be desirable and a must-have, but the crops should definitely come with a caution on the label because some can be unforgiving, emphasising on what we’d rather hide and making 98% of us look shorter.

The good news is that we are no longer limited to cigarette style trousers a la Parisienne (the look I personally adore the most), but any shape imaginable, so it’s easy to find the perfect pair.

Go for higher waisted versions in order to lengthen the legs, wide and boy’ish to create a straight line and visually change the silhouette, or boot-cut without side pockets – to balance the wider hips. Be careful with tapered trousers and remember to wear heels, the fashion’s simplest trick to longer-looking pins.

Here I will be sticking with my trusted long-term friends – Patrizia Pepe wide straight black and white Gingham pair that may be a hundred years old, but is just lovely (and very much loved) and recently bought Whistles tailored black cigarettes for colder days.

Spring 2013 bags: pattern on pattern trend

carven-rtw-ss2013-details-45_083256281143

There’s a new trend in town. The bags that match the clothes were seeing in many Spring 2013 ready-to-wear collections,  from subtle colour coordinated ensembles at Elie Saab, Giambattista Valli and Chado Ralph Rucci, to full on pattern-on-pattern doubles at Louis Vuitton, Guy Laroche, Carven and Gucci. No longer it’s about shoes and bags, gloves and bags, belts and bag or any particular colour… Now your arm candy requires an identical twin of a dress or vice versa.

Although I can easily picture wearing the monochromatic mixes, I feel that it would take a very stylish girl to pull off the pattern-on-pattern combos. What do you think?
